Bwindi Education Project was created after founder Jacqueline Morris was on Safari in September 2018.
After a day of hiking to see the famous silver back gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the Rushaga Nsongi Orphanage Farm visited our hotel to do a performance of dancing and singing. Jacki met Gift, the eldest of our family and they were immediately connected.
The school year runs from February through November and is full-time boarding school about 85 km from Rushaga, where the children live with caretakers when the school is not in session.
We are very lucky and thankful for them as well as our local liaison Xavier. He was my safari guide that continues to help with the children. He communicates with the caregivers and school as well as shops for the school supplies and general needs.
